19 pages are sharing one sentence

Google shows a short description under every link. When a page has none of its own, the site falls back to the homepage’s. Right now 19 different pages are all advertising the same sentence about the exhibition — including the contact page, the Woodex team, the Brazilian and Indian exhibitor pages, the brochure library and the partners page. It is correct on the homepage and on nothing else.

The footer’s post-show report link takes a detour on every page

Fix in Strapi 1 link · every page

Why it matters

Download the Post Show Report in the footer’s Quick Links column is stored as the full address without the final “/” — https://woodexexpo.com/post-show-report rather than /post-show-report/. Nothing looks wrong, but the site has to forward every click on to the “/” version before the page appears, and the footer is on all 137 pages.

Search engines also treat a link that has to be forwarded as worth slightly less than one that goes straight there — and this one points at your post-show report form, one of the pages you most want found.

The fix is one edit: write it as the path /post-show-report/. A link written that way always lands on the right page and cannot fall out of date.

Where to change it

Strapi → Footer → Quick Links → Download the Post Show Report

Link textCurrentlyChange it to
Download the Post Show Reporthttps://woodexexpo.com/post-show-report
/post-show-report/

Verified. Requested on 25 August: the current address answers with a forward to /post-show-report/ rather than the page itself. The other two Quick Links, Become an Exhibitor and Download Event Brochure, are already written correctly and need no change.

Seven links inside the site lead to a page that does not exist

Fix in Strapi 7 links · 6 pages

Why it matters

Each of these can be clicked today, and each lands the reader on a “page not found” screen instead of the page it promises. A dead link costs whatever the click was about to do — a stand enquiry, a sector page, a report download — and search engines quietly mark a site down for them.

Six of the seven are addresses typed slightly differently from the real ones: a sector name shortened, a “z” for an “s”, exhibiting for exhibit. The seventh is a link to our internal preview copy of the site, which visitors cannot open. Every replacement address below was opened and checked before it went in the table.

/post-show-report/

The “Woodex exhibit enquiry” link. In the Protecting Wood article the third link points at the same wrong sector address as the two beside it, but its wording says it was meant to reach the enquiry form — so we suggest /exhibit-enquiry/ rather than the sector page. Use whichever you intended.

Three more take a detour rather than failing. In Zero Waste Woodshops the “exhibitor enquiry” link is written /exhibit-enquiry without the final “/”, and two articles — Supply Continuity in Veneers and Boards and What Trade Visitors Look For on the Expo Floor — link “partnership opportunities” to /become-a-partner/, which only forwards on to /about-woodex/. All three work, but each costs a forwarding step; write them /exhibit-enquiry/ and /about-woodex/ if you are in the article anyway.

Verified. Every address in the table was requested individually on 25 August: the middle column returns an error page, and every replacement loads normally.

Six links to other websites no longer work

Fix in Strapi 6 links · 3 pages

Why it matters

These point at other organisations’ websites, and the pages behind them have since been removed — in two cases the whole website has gone. Four of the six are hotel booking buttons on Plan Your Travel, the page a visitor opens when they are ready to spend money on the trip.

Two have a known replacement, given below. The four hotel links need a person to find each hotel’s current booking page, or to take the button off.

Where to change it

Strapi → the page named below → the link or button

/plan-your-travel/Book your Stay — Ibis Moscow Kievskaya 3*ibiskievskaya.moscowcityhotels.comSame website — no longer exists. Relink or remove

The same hotels are on your other sites. Plan Your Travel on cifraexpo.com and electronicaexpo.com carries the same four hotel buttons, and their reports list them too. Each site has its own record in Strapi, so the edit needs making on each.

Links that looked dead but are fine. A few websites refuse automated visitors and so failed our checker — the Hilton and Radisson booking pages, three ISO standards pages, BIFMA, the ITE exhibitor catalogue, and the FAO forestry report linked from From Forest to Mill. All open normally for a person in a browser, so none of them is listed.

Verified. Each address was requested on 25 August: the Accor and Edge Seligerskaya pages answer “gone” or “not found”, the old woodexpo.com and moscowcityhotels.com domains no longer resolve at all, and both replacements in the table load.

The four Woodex 2025 galleries are not on the Media Gallery page

Fix in Strapi 4 galleries

Why it matters

The Media Gallery page lists seven galleries — 2017, 2019, 2021 and 2023. Your four newest ones — Woodex 2025 Exhibition, Woodex 2025 Awards Ceremony, Woodex 2025 Conference Program and Woodex Furniture Summit 2025 — are published and open at their own addresses, but neither the gallery page nor the menu links to them. A visitor browsing the gallery never sees last year’s show, and search engines find those four pages only through your sitemap.

The gallery section on that page shows whichever galleries were ticked when it was set up, and the 2025 ones were added after that. Either tick the four new ones in that list, or clear the selection altogether — with nothing selected the section shows every published gallery automatically, newest first, and future galleries appear on their own.

Where to change it

  • /media-gallery/woodex-furniture-summit-2025/

Verified. The live Media Gallery page on 25 August links exactly seven galleries, none of them from 2025. The four above load at their own addresses and are all in your sitemap.

5

Two pages use “Heading 1” as a text style

Fix in Strapi 2 pages

Why it matters

Every page has one main heading — the big title at the top — and search engines read the “Heading 1” style as “this is what the page is about”. In the text editor the same style is available on any paragraph, and on two pages it has been used simply to make text large.

On the Equipment for Furniture Production sector page the sentence “Put Your Machinery in Front of Russia and the CIS Furniture Industry” is set as Heading 1, so the page announces two subjects. On Furniture Components and Fittings the statistics table — 8,000+, 210+, 8+ and Visitors, Exhibitors, Countries — is built from six Heading 1 cells, which tells Google the page is about “8,000+”.

Where to change it

Six page titles are still working labels

Fix in Strapi 6 pages

Why it matters

The title is the blue clickable line in a Google result and the name on the browser tab. Six pages still carry the label they were built under — Form - Contact Us, Why Visit - Chinese — which reads as unfinished to a searcher and says nothing about Woodex.

The suggested titles below are a starting point; edit them freely.

The thank-you page can skip this. Nobody searches for a thank-you page. Ticking noIndex in its SEO settings keeps it out of Google altogether, and then its title does not matter.

The Chinese page’s headline still says 2025. The big heading on /why-visit/cn/ begins 为什么参加 Woodex 2025, while the event dates shown on the page are for 2026. Worth updating the year while you are in the record.

29 pages need a description of their own

Fix in Strapi 29 pages

Why it matters

The description is the grey text under your link in a Google result. It is the sentence that decides whether somebody clicks you or a competitor, and it is the only part of a search result you write yourself.

18 pages have none, so they fall back to the homepage’s sentence — somebody searching for the Woodex team or the Brazilian exhibitor programme currently reads a line that mentions neither. Another 11 Media Gallery pages do have a description, but it is the single word Woodex, which gives a searcher nothing to go on.

The suggested wording below was written from what is on each page. It is a starting point, not a decision about how you want to sound — please read each one before you use it.

Where to change it

Two of the 18 need no copy at all. /partners-sponsors-demo/ is being unpublished further down, and /compliance-report-thank-you/ can be hidden from Google with noIndex instead — once that is done, neither needs a description.

The Middle East page is in Arabic. The suggestion above is in English so you can see what it says. An Arabic description would match the page better if you have someone to write it — Google shows whichever you enter.

Fix in Strapi 8 records

Why it matters

None of these breaks anything, but each is visible to visitors or to Google, and each takes a minute to put right.

The four New Year greetings are the ones worth a moment’s thought: they share two titles between them, and two of them share a date, so Google sees the same article twice over and has to guess which to show.

252 images are heavier than they need to be

Fix in Strapi 252 images · 52 MB

Why it matters

A quarter of the images on the site are heavier than 100 kB — 52 MB between them. Every visitor downloads these at full size, including anyone on a phone on mobile data, and Google counts page speed when it decides where to rank you.

The heaviest single file is a 4.2 MB banner on the Exhibitor Resource Centre page; the Plan Your Travel photo is 3 MB, and a 2.5 MB carpenter photograph sits on two pages. Further down, the sector images are each used on three or four pages, so they count several times over.

The site cannot shrink these by itself, so this is a re-upload in the Media Library rather than anything a developer can do. A free tool such as tinypng.com or squoosh.app does it well: aim for under about 200 kB for a large photograph, and much less for a logo.

Where to change it

Start with the ones used on several pages. Furniture_Components_and_Fittings.webp, Tools.webp and Untitled_design_35.webp each sit on four pages and Door_Production.webp on three — compressing each once improves every page it is on. The 2.5 MB carpenter photograph is on two.

Then make it a habit. A minute spent compressing each new image before it goes into Strapi keeps the problem from growing back. The full list of the 252 files is available on request.

Where the number comes from. We measured every image the crawl found across all 137 pages: 252 files above 100 kB, 52 MB between them.

Should the partner logos be clickable?

We need a decision Decision

Why it matters

The partner and sponsor logos — all 19 on the Partners & Sponsors page, and the strip of 21 that runs across 17 other pages including About Woodex, Plan Your Travel and the enquiry forms — are each built as a link, but no partner record has an address behind it. So every logo is a link to nowhere: clicking does nothing, and a visitor using a keyboard or a screen reader has to step through 21 empty links on each of those pages before reaching the footer.

If the logos are meant to take visitors to each partner’s website, the fix is yours: open each partner in Strapi and fill in the link. If they are not meant to go anywhere, tell us and we will change them to plain images — that is a code change on our side and needs nothing from your team.

Where to change it

Tell us — and if yes, fill in each partner’s link in Strapi → Partners → the partner → Button → LinkTo

What we need from you. One answer covers both the Partners & Sponsors page and the logo strip. Either way, we are adding a safeguard so that a partner without a link is shown as a plain image rather than a dead link — so partners added later cannot bring the problem back.

11

The headline numbers differ from page to page

We need a decision Decision

Why it matters

While checking the pages we noticed the site quotes three different visitor figures for the show, and two different exhibitor and country counts. A visitor comparing pages — or a prospective exhibitor doing their homework — will notice too.

Some of these may describe different things — unique visitors against total visits, say, or countries against Russian regions — in which case labelling them consistently is all that is needed.

Where to change it

Tell us which figures are current, or edit the pages directly

PageVisitorsExhibitorsCountries

/ — the page itself7,320+ total visitors180+8+
/furniture-components-and-fittings/8,000+210+8+

/indian-exhibitors/ and /middle-east/7,320+ total visits180+8+
/why-woodex/6,300+ qualified buyers180+23+

What we need from you. Which set is right — or which figures mean different things. Once you tell us, the edits are ordinary text changes in each page’s record, and we can point you at the exact blocks.

If you have time

Worth doing, not urgent

None of these is a problem. They are the difference between a site that is correct and one that is polished.

The homepage description is four characters too long

It runs to 159 characters and Google trims at about 155, so the last words become an ellipsis. Dropping “Connect with 8,000+ industry buyers.” brings it to 122 and removes one of the figures in the numbers table. It is also the sentence built into the site as the fallback for every page without a description of its own — tell us when you have settled the wording and we will update that copy to match. Ten other descriptions, mostly on articles, run to 156–160 characters and are only worth trimming if you are in the record anyway.

Most sector pages carry a single paragraph

Eight of the nine sector pages have one short paragraph of their own copy — Equipment for Furniture Production is the exception. A second paragraph on what is exhibited and who visits would help each one rank for its sector terms. Editorial judgement — your call which sectors matter most.

Two small gaps in the event data Google reads

The site already sends Google a machine-readable summary of the event — dates, venue, organiser — which is what lets a search result show rich details. It is missing just two things: the registration link and the venue postcode. Both live in the same shared Strapi block the rest of the summary comes from; add them and the warnings in Google’s testing tools clear. Tell us if you would like pointing at the exact fields.

714 images have no written description

Every image can carry a short line of alternative text — read aloud to visitors using a screen reader, shown if the image fails to load, and the only thing Google has to go on in image search. A big job, so do it gradually: start with the homepage, the sector pages and Why Exhibit, and add a line to new uploads as a habit.

26 page titles are very short

Why Woodex?, Media Gallery, Woodex Team, Woodex 2017. Google gives you roughly 60 characters and these use a fraction of it. Media Gallery | Woodex 2026 works harder than Media Gallery, and costs nothing to change.

27 headlines are cut off in Google

Google shows roughly the first 60 characters of a title and trims the rest mid-sentence. 27 headlines run past 70 characters, 25 of them articles. When writing future headlines, put the point in the first 60 characters; each article also has a separate Meta Title field if you want a search-only short version.

A proofread of the most-visited pages

The crawler flagged possible spelling errors on nearly every page; on inspection they are overwhelmingly brand names and transliterations rather than mistakes — the one real slip it caught is the “Downlaod” button above. Still, a human proofread of the homepage, the sector pages and the newest articles would catch the few a tool cannot judge.

What happens now

Start with the footer and the links

The footer link is one edit that fixes every page. The thirteen dead links are mostly quick swaps — every replacement address we could find is in the tables, and the four hotel buttons need a quick search or a deletion.

Then the galleries and the descriptions

Adding the four 2025 galleries to the Media Gallery page is a two-minute change that puts last year’s show back in front of visitors. The 29 descriptions are the biggest win for how the site looks in search; the sixteen drafted ones get you started and the galleries follow one pattern.

Read the suggested wording before you use it

Every title and description we have drafted is a starting point, written from what is on the page, not from your marketing plan. Change anything that does not sound like you.

Answer the two decisions

Whether the partner logos should link out, and which headline figures are current. Reply to this report and we will action both.

We re-run the check

Once you have published your changes we run the same review again and send you a short before-and-after. No need to tell us when — just say the word.

Every item in this report was checked by hand against the live site on 25 August 2026. 137 pages were loaded one by one in a real browser, and a separate search-engine crawl fetched 142 addresses, covering all 137 in your sitemap. Every dead link named here was requested individually, along with each suggested replacement, and every figure in the headline-numbers table was read from the live page. Findings the scans flagged that turned out to be fine have been left out rather than passed on — including eight links to other websites that refuse automated visitors but open normally for a person, the FAO forestry report among them. Each page was loaded once, so this review found what it found; it is not a guarantee that nothing else is wrong. Suggested wording is a starting point: please read it over before publishing, and change anything that does not match how you talk about the event.
