Four hotel buttons on Plan Your Travel are broken, two of them point at an expired website

Fix in Strapi 4 buttons · 1 page

Why it matters

This is the page a visitor opens when they are ready to book their trip, and it is the first thing worth fixing before the show opens on 6 October.

Two of the buttons point at a website whose address has lapsed and is listed for sale (moscowcityhotels.com). If someone buys it, those two buttons would send your visitors to whatever the new owner puts there. Remove them now, or replace them with each hotel’s own current website.

Where to change it

Strapi → Plan Your Travel → the hotel cards → each “Book your Stay” button’s link

HotelWhat happens nowWhat to do
Ibis Moscow Kievskaya 3*The website no longer exists. Its address has expired and is for sale.Remove the link now, or replace it with the hotel’s own current website
Novotel Moscow Kievskaya 4*The same expired websiteRemove the link now, or replace it
Hotel SeverCity 3*The hotel group has permanently removed the booking pageReplace it with the hotel’s current website, or remove the hotel
Edge Seligerskaya-MoscowThe English page is gone, but the hotel’s home page still worksChange the link to https://hiseligerskaya.ru/

One to click yourself. Please press the Radisson Slavyanskaya button on the same page and check it still opens. That site blocks automated checks, so we could not confirm it either way.

2

The “Download the app” button on the home page still goes nowhere

Fix in Strapi 1 page

Why it matters

This was on the reports of 19 August and 15 September, and it is unchanged. In the Fastenex Connect section of the home page there is a prominent red button reading “Download the app”. We clicked it again on 5 October: the page stays where it is and nothing opens.

The button’s address field holds a single # character, which is a placeholder meaning “stay on this page”. It is the only customer-facing defect we found anywhere on the site, and visitors will meet it during the show.

Putting a real address in that field, or removing the button, is the whole fix, and it goes live when you publish.

Where to change it

Strapi → Home page → Connect Section → the button’s Link To field

What to put in it. The app’s store listing if there is one, or the Fastenex Connect page at /connect/ if the app is not ready yet. If the app is not launching, removing the button is the honest option; the section reads well without it.

3

Two links to other websites are dead

Fix in Strapi 2 links

Why it matters

The first is on Why Visit and leads to the conference programme, which a visitor is likely to want during the show. Both have been broken since the last check.

Where to change it

Strapi → the page or article named below → the link

Where it appearsLink textWhat to do
/why-visit/“Explore Conference Programme”It points at an old address on the Weldex site. The programme now lives at https://weldexexpo.com/conference-programme/, so change the link to that.
Article: “Threaded for Strength: Innovations in Industrial Fasteners”“Titanium alloys”The PDF has been removed from fastener-world.com. Unlink the words, or link to the publisher’s home page.

One to click yourself. Please press “View Website” on the Y&H Cargo page. Their site did not answer at all during the check. It may only be blocking visitors from outside India, but it is your partner’s page, so it is worth confirming.

Other links flagged, no action needed. Many other outbound links were flagged by the scan but work fine. Government and Russian news sites block automated checks, but they open normally for your audience.

4

The Email box on the Visitor Registration form has no label for screen readers

Fix in Strapi 1 form

Why it matters

On this form the words “Email *” are not tied to the box you type in, so someone using a screen reader hears an unnamed field and cannot tell what to enter. It is the main sign-up form on the site.

The form is supplied by your registration provider and placed on your page, so the fix is on their side rather than in Strapi. Please ask the provider whether the field can be labelled, or whether you can change it in the form tool. It is probably the same on every ITE site that uses this form.

Where to change it

Your registration form provider → the form builder for /visitor-registration/

Not something that can land before the show. This depends on the provider, so it is realistic to raise it now and expect the change after the show.

5

Four pages that nobody should find through Google are listed there

Fix in Strapi 4 pages

Why it matters

All four are published and listed for search engines. Ticking noIndex tells Google not to list a page, and it also takes the page out of the sitemap at the next publish. Someone who has just submitted a form still sees the thank-you page as normal.

The component showcase is an internal page full of “Lorem ipsum” placeholder text, and its search title, “Key Fastener Components and Applications”, makes it look like a real page. The demo partners page describes itself as “Demo content for Partners & Sponsors.” The two thank-you pages are form confirmations that nobody should land on from a search.

Where to change it

Strapi → the page → SEO → tick noIndex, or unpublish the page

  • /components/
  • /partners-sponsors-demo/
  • /thank-you/why-russia-report/
  • /thank-you/why-russia-indian-exhibitors/

This also settles a duplicate description. The Why Russia thank-you page shares its description with Beyond the surface, which makes Google treat the two as interchangeable. Hiding the thank-you page fixes that without a separate edit.

If you want to keep the thank-you page public. Give Beyond the surface its own description instead. A starting point: “The Fastenex market report on Russia’s fastener and fixings sector: demand, imports, domestic production and where the growth is.” Please read it over before using it.

Six pages show nothing, or one word, under their title in Google

Fix in Strapi 6 pages

Why it matters

The description is the grey text under your link in a Google result. These six show either nothing or, for the three galleries, the single word “Fastenex”. The galleries have no separate SEO box, so the Short text field is the place to fix it, and a sentence there is also the only text Google has to go on for pages that are otherwise almost all photos.

The suggested wording is a starting point, written from what is on each page. Please read it over before publishing, because it goes out under Fastenex’s name.

Where to change it

Six images have no written description, five of them are links

Fix in Strapi 6 images

Why it matters

Alternative text is a short written description of a picture. A screen reader reads it aloud to a blind visitor, and Google uses it to understand the image. When the picture is also a link, it is the only name the link has, so today each of the first five is announced as just “link”. The first three are on every page of the site.

The sixth is different: it is not a link but a wall of 15 exhibitor logos (Ambica, Sunrui, Huaao, Stanvac, Hardcarb, Kaisen and others) under “Who Will You Meet?” on Why Visit. It carries real information, and today a screen reader gets nothing for it, not even a blank.

A correction to the last report. The 15 September report suggested “Fastenex” for the first image. It is actually the Weldex logo, so please use “Weldex”.

The last row needs to be accurate. The suggested wording names four of the exhibitors in the picture. Check it against the image, and add or swap names if you would rather.

Four footer links take an extra hop on every page

Fix in Strapi 4 links · every page

Why it matters

Visitor Registration, Download Event Brochure, Become an Exhibitor and Download the Post-Show Report are all stored without the “/” on the end, for example /event-brochure rather than /event-brochure/.

They all work. Every visit simply takes an extra step first, on every page of the site. Four edits in one screen, and they were on the previous lists too.

Where to change it

The site still tells Google nothing about the event

Fix in Strapi 1 edit · home page

Why it matters

A site can send Google a short structured summary of the event: its name, dates, venue and organiser. That is what lets a search result show an event card with your dates in it instead of a plain blue link. On Fastenex that field is empty.

ExpoCifra’s home page already has a complete one. The quickest path is to copy that block, change the name, dates, venue and web address to Fastenex’s, and paste it into the Fastenex home page.

Where to change it

Strapi → Home page → SEO → JSON-LD

A correction to the last report. The 15 September report said this block would apply to every page. That was wrong: it belongs on the home page and shows there only, which is where Google looks for event details. It does not need copying anywhere else.

Get the dates right in it. The block should read 6–9 October 2026, Hall 4, Pavilion 1, Crocus Expo, Moscow, matching the header and footer.

Hand it to a developer if that is easier. It is a single settings field containing a block of structured text, so passing this item to whoever maintains the site is a perfectly good way to get it done.

A pop-up marketing tool is loaded on every page, but it is not set up for this site

We need a decision Decision · every page

Why it matters

Every page asks OptinMonster, a tool for pop-ups and sign-up prompts, to start. OptinMonster answers “the referrer site could not be found” because fastenexexpo.com is not registered in the account, so no pop-up can ever appear. Visitors see nothing wrong, but every page makes a request that always fails.

It comes down to whether you use the tool for this site.

Where to change it

Your OptinMonster account, or tell us to remove it

OptionWhat happens
You use OptinMonster for FastenexRegister fastenexexpo.com in your OptinMonster account. Nothing changes on our side.
You do not use itTell us and we remove it from the site.

What we need from you. Which of the two applies. Nothing is broken for visitors in the meantime, so this does not need to happen before the show.

If you have time

Worth doing, not urgent

None of these is a problem. They are the difference between a site that is correct and one that is polished.

Two live pages have no link pointing at them

Beyond the surface and Terms of Visiting are published and in your sitemap, but no page on the site links to them. The home page banner for the Beyond the Surface report goes to a separate download page on another site. For each one, either link it from somewhere sensible (Terms of Visiting fits next to Visitor Registration) or unpublish it if it is no longer needed.

128 images are larger than they need to be: 28 MB in total

The same backlog as last time, and none of it is urgent. The site cannot shrink images by itself, so they have to be re-saved smaller and uploaded again. The sector images are the ones worth doing, because each is used on seven to nine pages: 0001_4 (863 kB, 8 pages), Fittings (649 kB, 8 pages), Furniture_fasteners (635 kB, 7 pages), Consumables_drills_crowns (585 kB, 7 pages), 000 (563 kB, 8 pages) and IT (547 kB, 9 pages). The two largest single files are Trans_Russia_Previous_Exhibitors_1 (873 kB) and Glazkova_Nataliya (847 kB), each used once. As a rough guide, a full-width image rarely needs more than 200 kB.

About 80 gallery photos have no description

The photos in the three galleries have no alternative text. A short generic one, such as “Fastenex 2024 exhibition floor”, is better than none, and the Media Library lets you do it in batches. A job for after the show.

Twenty-three titles are very short and five are too long

Google shows roughly the first 60 characters of a title and trims the rest. Five titles run past that, the longest a 125-character article headline, “Russian Markets Of Fasteners, Tools, Assembly And Installation Systems, Fittings…”. Give those five a shorter SEO title and leave the headline on the page as it is. Twenty-three titles are under 30 characters, such as “Y&H Cargo”, “Media Gallery”, “Fastenex Connect” and “Conference Programme”. They work, but they waste space Google gives you; for example, “Conference Programme” could become “Fastenex 2026 Conference Programme: Sessions and Speakers”. Only worth doing for pages people actually search for.

On our side

What we are handling

Found in the same review, but ours to put right. Since the last reports these have shipped and held: search engines can now follow the main menu’s drop-down links (Why Visit now has a link from every page), the doubled main headings on the two Russia report pages are fixed (your 15 September list asked you to change those by hand, so that item is now closed), the footer “Site Map” request no longer fails, the article photo that ran off the edge of a phone is fixed, the security certificate is now served complete, and the header that forces a secure connection is in place. In the browser check all 120 pages loaded, no page crashed, no page scrolled sideways at phone width, and the mobile menu opened on every one. The pale grey text and the unnamed video buttons below are code, so they are ours rather than yours.

The pale grey secondary text is lighter than the readable minimum (3.64 to 1 against a recommended 4.5 to 1). It is the line under “Sponsors & Government Support” and the date and “min read” line on every article, and a couple of other places use the same grey on white. We are darkening it

What happens now

Before the show opens on 6 October: three quick edits

Remove or replace the two Moscow hotel links that point at the expired website, add a real address to the Download the app button (or remove it), and change the Why Visit conference programme link. All three are single fields in Strapi and go live when you publish. Everything else on this list can wait until after the show.

After the show: the rest of the Strapi edits

Fix the other two hotel links, tick noIndex on the four pages, write the six descriptions, add the six image descriptions and correct the four footer links. Together that is about an hour of editing.

Raise the registration form with its provider

The unlabelled Email box is on the provider’s side, so it is worth sending them the request now. We do not expect a change before the show.

One decision from you

Whether you use OptinMonster on this site. Reply to this report with your answer and we will action it if needed, and there is no rush.

We re-run the check

Once you have published your changes, we run the same review again and send you a short before-and-after. No need to tell us when, just say the word.

This review was carried out in two parts. The search-engine crawl ran on 2 October and covered all 121 pages in your sitemap; the browser check ran on 5 October, three days later, on the same live version of the site. In the browser, 120 of the 121 pages were loaded on desktop and at phone width and the mobile menu was tried on each, with the internal component gallery left out. The accessibility check ran on 36 pages, one of each page type, so a shared part of the site such as the footer or the sponsors block is reported once but applies wherever it appears; its page counts come from the pages themselves. The browser check raised 376 individual flags. Each was looked at, and the real problems are in this report; things that turned out to be fine are left out, including photos reported as broken that were only slow to arrive, errors from outside services such as reCAPTCHA, and the email-verification tool, which still works. The four lines of body text from 15 September that gave the wrong dates were not re-read on this run, so their absence here is not a sign that they have been fixed. Each page was loaded once, so this lists what we found, which is not the same as every page being free of problems. Suggested wording is a starting point: please read it over before publishing and change anything that does not sound like you.
