Four pages still give the wrong dates, the wrong year or the wrong event

Fix in Strapi 4 pages

Why it matters

This was item 2 on the report of 19 August. All four lines were re-read off the live pages on 15 September and none of them has changed.

The show is 6–9 October 2026 at Hall 4, Pavilion 1, Crocus Expo, Moscow, and the header and footer of every page say so correctly. It is the body copy on these four that was left behind from last year — or, on one page, copied from another ITE show.

Nothing here needs a developer. Each is a line of text in the page record, and each is telling a visitor something untrue right now.

Your Roadmap to Fastenex 2026

The About page one is the urgent one. It is the sentence that tells an exhibitor when to turn up, and it names a date that has now passed — nearly a year ago. Anyone reading that page today is being told the show was in October 2025. It was the most urgent line on the August report and it is more urgent now.

Free Promo names the wrong show. The page invites your clients to Weldex 2026, not Fastenex. Mentions of Weldex elsewhere on the site are correct — the two are co-located — so this is the one place the name is wrong.

Check the brochure before changing the last row. The Event Brochure page invites people to download “the official brochure … for this year’s show”, and the heading underneath says Fastenex 2025. If the file behind that button really is the 2025 brochure, the file is what needs replacing, not the heading. If it is already the 2026 brochure, change the heading.

Verified. All four lines were read off the live pages on 15 September and are unchanged from 19 August.

2

The “Download the app” button on the home page still goes nowhere

Fix in Strapi 1 page

Why it matters

This was item 6 on the report of 19 August and is unchanged. In the Fastenex Connect section of the home page there is a prominent red button reading “Download the app”. Clicking it does nothing at all — the page simply stays where it is.

The button’s address field contains a single # character. That is a placeholder meaning “stay on this page”, and it is what the button is faithfully doing. The button’s text is filled in correctly, which is why the problem is invisible until somebody clicks.

Putting a real address in that field is the whole fix, and it goes live when you publish.

Where to change it

Strapi → Home page → Connect Section → the button’s Link To field

What to put in it. The app’s store listing if there is one, or the Fastenex Connect page at /connect/ if the app is not ready yet. If the app is not launching this year, changing the button text is the honest option — the section reads well without a download button.

It is still the only one. We re-checked every button on the site on 15 September. This remains the only one with a placeholder address in it.

Seven pages need a description written by hand

Fix in Strapi 7 pages

Why it matters

The description is the grey text under your link in a Google result. It is the two lines that decide whether someone clicks you or clicks the result below you.

Twenty pages needed titles and descriptions in August. The site now writes a description automatically from the words already on each page, which covered most of them. These seven are what is left, and they come in three shapes.

Three are blank and show nothing at all. Three galleries have the single word “Fastenex” and nothing else, which is the whole search result and makes all three read as the same page to Google. The seventh is sharing its description with another page.

/beyond-the-surface/Discover a Dynamic Market Ready for Growth
The Fastenex market report on Russia’s fastener and fixings sector — demand, imports, domestic production and where the growth is.

The last row may fix itself. Beyond the surface shares its description word for word with the Why Russia Report thank-you page, and Google treats identical descriptions as a sign that two pages are interchangeable. The thank-you page should not be in Google at all — hiding it, two items below, settles this on its own. Write the new description only if you would rather keep both.

An eighth page is blank and should stay that way. The Why India × Russia Report thank-you page has no description either. Leave it — it is a form confirmation page and should not be in search results.

4

Three images that appear on every page have no description

Fix in Strapi 3 images · every page

Why it matters

Every image can carry a short written description, used in two places: a screen reader reads it aloud to a blind visitor, and Google uses it to understand what the picture shows.

The site logo and the two social icons at the bottom of every page all have that field empty. Someone using a screen reader hears three unlabelled links and has no way to tell what they are or where they lead.

Three edits, and they cover every page of the site.

And the rest is actually finishable here. Your whole library has about 155 images without a description. On the largest of the five ITE sites we reviewed this week the same number is 2,444. Three edits covers the site-wide ones; working through the remainder is a genuinely achievable afternoon rather than a standing backlog.

Four pages that were never meant for the public are live in Google

Fix in Strapi 4 pages

Why it matters

All four are published, listed in your sitemap and eligible to appear in search results. All four were confirmed still indexable on 15 September.

The component showcase is an internal build page and carries the only “Lorem ipsum” placeholder text on the site — the dummy Latin that sits in a layout before the real words arrive. The demo partners page has the same title as your real Partners and Sponsors page, so Google has to choose between them; it was one of the three decisions on the August report and is still open.

The other two are thank-you pages. Someone finding one in a search result lands on a confirmation message for a form they never filled in.

Where to change it

Strapi → each page → SEO → tick No Index (or unpublish the record)

  • /components/
  • /partners-sponsors-demo/
  • /thank-you/why-russia-report/
  • /thank-you/why-russia-indian-exhibitors/

This also settles the duplicate description. Hiding /thank-you/why-russia-report/ removes the page that is currently sharing its description with Beyond the surface, so that part of the descriptions item above needs no separate edit.

Ticking No Index also removes them from the sitemap. You do not need to do anything else, and nothing changes for someone who has just submitted a form — they still see the page. If the component showcase and the demo partners page are no longer used internally, deleting them is cleaner still.

6

Two links to other websites are dead

Fix in Strapi 2 links

Why it matters

Both were requested by hand on 15 September with an ordinary browser identity, so neither is a case of a website simply refusing automated checks.

One of them points at a sister ITE site, so somebody there is likely to know the new address.

Where to change it

Strapi → the page or article named → the link address

“Explore Conference Programme”weldexexpo.com/conferences/Page not found — and it is a sister ITE site, so ask them for the new address
“Titanium alloys”a PDF on fastener-world.comThe file has been removed. Repoint or remove the link

One more, and it is not on your site. The Plan Your Travel page links to hiseligerskaya.ru/en/, which returns an error. The hotel’s own site works normally — it is only the /en/ English version that has been removed, so trimming those three characters off the end fixes it.

Thirty-six other links were checked and left alone. The scan flagged a number of external links as broken. They are not — minpromtorg.gov.ru alone accounts for 36 of them and works perfectly well in a browser. They are not listed here and need no action.

7

Four footer links take an extra hop on every page

Fix in Strapi 4 links · every page

Why it matters

Visitor Registration, Download Event Brochure, Become an Exhibitor and Download the Post-Show Report are all stored without the “/” on the end — /event-brochure rather than /event-brochure/.

They all work. Every visit simply takes an extra step first, on every page of the site, which costs a little speed and a little of what search engines are willing to spend crawling you.

They are four edits in one screen, and they were on the August list too.

Two pages still use the largest heading style twice

Fix in Strapi 2 pages

Why it matters

This was item 7 on the report of 19 August and is unchanged — both pages were checked again on 15 September and both still carry two main headings.

On the Why Russia Report and Why India × Russia pages, the line “Download this report to understand:” was typed using the Heading 1 style in the text editor. Heading 1 is meant for the page’s own main title and nothing else — it is how a search engine works out what a page is about, so using it twice gives the page two competing answers.

Change that one line from Heading 1 to Heading 2 on each page. Nothing about how it looks needs to change, and the rest of the page is untouched.

The site tells Google nothing about the event — no dates, no venue, no organiser

Fix in Strapi 1 edit · every page

Why it matters

Alongside the words on a page, a site can send Google a short structured summary of the event: its name, dates, venue and organiser. That is what lets a search result show an event card with your dates in it rather than a plain blue link.

On this site that summary is empty on all 121 pages. Checked live on 15 September: the homepage sends nothing at all.

ExpoCifra already has a complete one. The quickest path is to copy that block, change the name, dates, venue and web address to Fastenex’s, and paste it in — one edit that applies to every page.

Where to change it

Strapi → Site settings → SEO → JSON-LD

Hand it to a developer if that is easier. This is the most technical item on the list. It is a single settings field containing a block of structured text, and passing this paragraph to whoever maintains the site is a perfectly good way to get it done.

Get the dates right in it. Given the four pages at the top of this report, it is worth saying: the block should read 6–9 October 2026, Hall 4, Pavilion 1, Crocus Expo, Moscow. That is what the header and footer of every page already say.

If you have time

Worth doing, not urgent

None of these is a problem. They are the difference between a site that is correct and one that is polished.

128 images are larger than they need to be — 28 MB in total

By far the smallest image backlog of the five ITE sites reviewed this week, and none of it is urgent. The site has no automatic image resizing, so the file you upload is exactly the file every visitor downloads. The sector images are the ones worth doing, because each is used on seven or eight pages: 0001_4 (863 kB, 8 pages), Fittings (649 kB, 8 pages) and Furniture_fasteners (635 kB, 7 pages). Two one-page files are also large — Trans_Russia_Previous_Exhibitors_1 (873 kB) and Glazkova_Nataliya (847 kB) — and both are PNGs that would be much smaller saved as WebP or JPEG. As a guide — full-width banners no wider than 1920px, article headers no wider than 1200px, logos and icons no wider than 400px, aiming for under 200 kB each.

Twenty-four titles are very short

Pages like “Y&H Cargo”, “Media Gallery”, “Fastenex Connect” and “Conference Programme” have titles under 30 characters. They work, but they use less of the space Google gives you and several miss the chance to say what the page is about. If you want to work through some: Conference Programme could be “Fastenex 2026 Conference Programme — Sessions and Speakers”; Exhibitor Resource Centre could be “Exhibitor Resource Centre — Fastenex 2026 Exhibitor Guide”; LeadScanning Service could be “Fastenex LeadScanning — Capture Visitor Leads on Your Stand”; Brochures and Reports could be “Fastenex Brochures, Post-Show Reports and Market Guides”. Entirely your call, and worth doing only for the pages people actually search for.

Five titles are cut off in search results

Google shows roughly the first 60 characters of a title and trims the rest mid-sentence, so the part that persuades someone to click is never seen. The longest of yours runs to 125 characters — an article headline about Russian fastener markets. You do not need to rename anything: each page has a separate SEO title field used only for search results, so a short version can go there while the headline on the page stays exactly as it is.

On our side

What we are handling

Ours rather than yours. Two have shipped since 19 August. The first row below has not, and it is the largest single problem on this site — it is named here rather than promised again.

No action needed from your team

Not done, and it was the first thing we undertook on 19 August: roughly half your pages still have no link a search engine can follow. The drop-down menus are built by the browser after the page arrives, so nine destinations never reach the page Google reads — Why Visit, Why Exhibit, Plan Your Travel, the Exhibitor Resource Centre, the exhibitor list, the conference programme, Free Promo, India Exhibitors and About ITE. Why Visit, which your whole visitor funnel points at, has no internal link anywhere on the site. The measurement has moved from 52 of 120 pages to 51 of 121, which is noise rather than progress. It is a small change and it is now at the top of our list

carried from 19 August · 51 of 121 pages · /why-visit/ has zero links

Code

Still open from 19 August, and the second cause of the same number: the article list shows the first batch and hides the rest behind a “Load More” button that a search engine never presses. We are adding real page links behind the button

carried from 19 August

Code

Descriptions written automatically from each page’s own text. Twenty pages needed titles and descriptions by hand in August; seven need writing today, which is one item on this report

shipped 14 September

Code

The security certificate was being served incomplete. In August it was bad enough that our own crawler could not read your sitemap at all. The full chain is now served and verifies cleanly

Hosting

Making the footer forgiving about the “/” on the end of an address, so a link saved without one lands directly rather than taking an extra hop. Your four footer links are the reason we noticed; correcting them in Strapi is the immediate fix and is on your list, and the code change stops it happening again

every page

Code

One image on the Why Visit page reaches a screen reader with nothing to announce at all, because the page leaves the description out entirely rather than leaving it blank. One line in a shared component fixes it for every image on the site, present and future

1 image · /why-visit/

Code

Still open from 19 August, and not done: generating the structured summary for your articles — headline, date, image, publisher — so a search result can show more than a blue link. The event block itself is a single settings field and is quicker for your team to paste in from ExpoCifra, which is why it is on your list rather than ours

carried from 19 August

Code

A guard against a heading line left empty in the editor being sent to Google as a real heading. It happens on two of your pages and on the same two pages of two sister sites, which is enough of a pattern to fix in code rather than ask three teams to tidy the same thing

2 pages

Code

Still open from 19 August, and not done: standard browser security headers are missing, so the site is not as protected as it could be against certain classes of attack. These are set by the hosting and content delivery layer rather than in the website itself, so the change is made there

What happens now

Start with the four wrong dates

They have been live for a month since we first raised them, and About Fastenex is telling exhibitors the show was in October 2025 — a date that has now passed. Four lines of text, no developer needed, and nothing else on this list is as visibly wrong to a visitor.

Then the quick ones, in about an hour

The Download the app button, which is one field. The three image descriptions, which cover every page at once. Four pages ticked No Index. Two dead outbound links. The four footer links, all in the same screen. Two heading styles changed from Heading 1 to Heading 2.

Then the seven descriptions

Three galleries that follow one pattern, three main pages, and one that may fix itself once the thank-you page is hidden. Partners and Sponsors and Brochures and Reports are the ones people actually search for.

Borrow ExpoCifra’s event block

Your site currently sends Google nothing about the event. ExpoCifra’s block is complete and verified working, so copying it across and changing the name, dates and venue is the single highest-value technical edit on this list — and it is one field.

On the half of the site Google cannot reach

That one is ours. It was the first thing we undertook in August and it has not been done; it is at the top of our list now, and it is listed above with what it currently costs you rather than as a fresh promise. Ask us about it and we will give you a date.

We re-run the check

Once you have published your changes we run the same review again and send you a short before-and-after, as we did between 19 August and today. No need to tell us when — just say the word.

This is a search-engine review, carried out on 15 September 2026 as a follow-up to the full report of 19 August. 122 addresses were crawled, covering all 121 in your sitemap plus 1 more, and every count here was measured rather than estimated. On most measures this is the healthiest of the five ITE sites reviewed this week: there is not a single broken link inside the site, every page’s canonical setting is correct, and the image backlog is a fraction of the others’. Three items are carried from August and were re-read off the live pages on 15 September rather than copied forward — the four wrong dates, the Download the app button and the two double headings are all unchanged, and they lead this report because none of them is a search problem: they are wrong facts and a dead button, which a search scan has no reason to raise. Thirty-six external links the scan called broken were checked, found to be fine and left out; minpromtorg.gov.ru accounts for all of them. The accessibility and layout findings from 19 August — the article photo running off the edge on a phone, the video buttons, the pale date line, the heading levels on the sector pages — were not re-tested on this run and are not repeated here; they are unchanged as far as we know, not verified as fixed. Suggested wording is a starting point: please read it over before publishing, and change anything that does not match how you talk about the event.
